Plot Summary: Lucy Ashton loves her brother’s enemy, is forced by said brother into an arranged marriage, murders her new husband and becomes insane after the disappearance of her true love Edgar Ravenswood. The Lammermuirs are a range of hills stretching from East Lothian in the north to the Borders in the south. Fast Castle was the model for Wolf’s Crag, the Master of Ravenswood’s stronghold. The precipitous eastern face of Posso Craig (by Langhaugh) is mentioned as a source of hunting hawks.
