Title: Ghosts on the Kirk Road

Plot Summary: In 1892 Matilda and Louisa Scott of Lessuden happened to be travelling along the road from Benrig to the old Kelso road (now B6404) when they witnessed, separately, the vanishing of a tall man dressed in black, old-fashioned clothes. Subsequent enquiries revealed that many other locals had seen the disappearing apparition. There is some suggestion it may have been the ghost of an 18th century clergyman from St Boswells who murdered his servant.
